NICIPPE YELLOW (Eurema nicippe)

Flight Period: Multiple brooded all seasons in southern California, east through Texas, the Gulf states, and into Florida.  Sometimes the butterfly migrates north into the central U.S. during the spring and autumn months.  It is most common from March through November in the southern U.S.  Its flight is swift and low to the ground. 

Range: Southern U.S., south to Brazil, the Bahamas, and Antilles.  It is found flying through meadows, canyons, and clustering at mud puddles -- especially near its host plant.

Host Plant: Senna (Cassia spp.).

Wing Span: 1 3/8 - 1 7/8" (35 - 48 mm).
