ALFALFA BUTTERFLY (Colias eurytheme) Flight Period: Multiple brooded in warm climates throughout the year. This species breeds with great success on native and naturalized legumes. It is a major pest in cultivated alfalfa fields when it is in the larval stage. It may be found in nearly any open space. Range: North America from Canada south through Mexico. Host Plants: Many members of the Pea Family (Fabaceae). Wing Span: 1 5/8 - 2 3/8" (41 - 60 mm). |
